Day 1 of the itinerary
Departure from the airport of origin for Casablanca, where there may be a time difference depending on the time of year. Connecting to the Casablanca-Errachidia flight at 11:00 p.m. Arrival in Errachidia at 11:59 p.m. Passport formalities and baggage claim. Transfer to Erfoud, known as the "Gateway to the Desert," approximately 70 km (50 minutes). Accommodation and dinner at the Kasbah Xaluca, considered unique in Morocco for its unique characteristics.
Day 2 of the itinerary
Today will be a day of total desert. We will travel along one of the tracks used in the Dakar Rally, visiting villages and desert nomads. We will stop at the Marine Fossil Quarries, dating back 360 million years, and have a picnic lunch in a true oasis.
We will continue until we reach the Great Erg Chebbi, a desert of fine sand dunes, where we will swap our 4x4 vehicles for camel-drawn vehicles to enter the heart of the dunes and contemplate an unforgettable sunset. We will arrive with the camels at the Bivouac de Luxe, where we will stay in tents similar to those used by desert nomads. Overnight stay and dinner. It is spectacular to sleep "under the stars."
We will continue until we reach the Great Erg Chebbi, a desert of fine sand dunes, where we will swap our 4x4 vehicles for camel-drawn vehicles to enter the heart of the dunes and contemplate an unforgettable sunset. We will arrive with the camels at the Bivouac de Luxe, where we will stay in tents similar to those used by desert nomads. Overnight stay and dinner. It is spectacular to sleep "under the stars."
Day 3 of the itinerary
“Date with Dawn.” It's recommended to get up early to hike to the top of the dunes and watch the sunrise. Enjoy a Bedouin breakfast and depart by car to circle the Erg to the abandoned village of Merdani. We'll continue to the Sudanese village of Khamlia, where its inhabitants will entertain us with traditional dances and mint tea.
Later, we'll go to Rissani* to visit its market, unique in these latitudes, where the desert tribes and nomads gather for supplies. It's interesting to see its donkey parking lot. Finally, we'll climb to a natural viewpoint to bid farewell to the desert with a beautiful panoramic view. Lunch at Des Dunes, the most authentic Berber pizzeria in Erfoud.
We'll return to Kasbah Xaluca for the rest of the day. After the desert experience, a bit of relaxation is appreciated. We can take a dip in the heated pool, enjoy the jacuzzi, play tennis, mini-golf, or optionally enjoy a hammam (Turkish bath) or a massage. For the more adventurous, there is the option of quad biking through the dunes surrounding the hotel (optional excursion). Accommodation and dinner at Kasbah Xaluca.
This afternoon, the car(s) and driver(s) will be at your disposal if you wish to continue exploring the area or explore Erfoud for a leisurely stroll.
*The Rissani market is held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, so it sometimes overlaps. In these cases, we try to schedule another day, or sometimes there is no time to visit.
Later, we'll go to Rissani* to visit its market, unique in these latitudes, where the desert tribes and nomads gather for supplies. It's interesting to see its donkey parking lot. Transfer to Errachidia Airport to catch your flight back to your point of origin. Along the way, we'll stop at the Ziz Valley viewpoint, home to over ten million palm trees.
