The Great South of Morocco is an authentic journey to discover primarily the south of the country. This 4x4 begins in Fez, whose Medina, the envy of the Arab world, is a beautiful labyrinth where you can get lost and immerse yourself in its history and culture. The journey will take us through unique places like the town of Ifrane, known as "Little Switzerland," and its impressive forests of Giant Cedars. We will continue to Erfoud, the gateway to the majestic Erg Chebbi Desert, a spectacle for the senses. There, the endless dunes and the magical aura that envelops these landscapes will allow us to experience an unforgettable night under the stars. We will leave the desert behind to cross the High Atlas Mountains, discovering breathtaking landscapes along the way. From the mountains to the city, we will arrive in Marrakech, a vibrant metropolis, dotted with artisans and artists, with magnificent squares and aromas that will remain forever in our memories.

Day 1 of the itinerary
Arrival in Fez

  • Departure from the airport of origin to Fez.
  • Arrival in Fez. (Depending on the time of year, there may be a time difference.)
  • Airport pickup and transfer to the Riad in the Medina or 4* Hotel.

Day 2 of the itinerary
Itinerary of the day: Fez – Ifrane – Ziz Valley – Erfoud

  • In the morning, we will take a walking tour guided of the ancient Medina of Fez, one of the most authentic and best preserved in the Arab world.
  • We will explore its labyrinthine medieval alleyways, where, amidst the bustle of its people, we will discover craft centers, mosques and palaces.
  • In the early afternoon, we will depart in a 4x4 vehicle with a driver heading south to cross the Middle Atlas Mountains and arrive in Ifrane, known as "Little Switzerland" because of its striking resemblance to that country.
  • We will continue through the Giant Cedar Forests.
  • If we're lucky, we'll be able to feed a colony of wild monkeys that lives high up in the mountains.
  • We will continue along the route through the Ziz Valley, home to more than ten million palm trees, until we reach Erfoud, a city known as "the Gateway to the Desert".
  • Accommodation and dinner at Kasbah Xaluca, a unique establishment in Morocco due to its singular characteristics.
Day 3 of the itinerary
Desert Adventure Day

  • Today we will experience a day of Total Desert.
  • We will travel along one of the old tracks used in the Dakar Rally, visiting villages and nomadic families in the desert.
  • We will make a stop at the Marine Fossil Quarries, which are over 360 million years old, and enjoy a picnic in a true oasis.
  • We will continue the route until we reach the impressive Great Erg Chebbi, known as the "Desert of Dunes of very fine sand".
  • There we will exchange the 4x4 vehicle for dromedaries, which will take us to the heart of the dunes to contemplate an unforgettable sunset.
  • We will arrive by camel at the Bivouac de luxe, where we will stay in traditional tents, similar to those used by desert nomads.
  • Accommodation and dinner at the camp. Sleeping “under the starsexperience spectacular.
Day 4 of the itinerary
Sunrise in the Desert and Return to the Kasbah

“Appointment with the Dawn”:
  • We recommend getting up early to walk to the top of the dunes and enjoy the sunrise, a magical experience.
  • Afterwards, we will have a Bedouin breakfast at the camp.
  • After breakfast, departure in a 4x4 vehicle to circle the Erg until reaching the abandoned village of Merdani.
  • We will continue to the Sudanese village of Khamlia, where its inhabitants will welcome us with traditional dances and mint tea.
  • Later, we will head to Rissani* to visit its traditional market, one of the most authentic in the region, where desert tribes and nomads still stock up.
  • Its peculiar donkey "parking".
  • We will end the morning by climbing to a natural viewpoint, from where we will say goodbye to the desert with a spectacular panoramic view.
Free afternoon at Kasbah Xaluca

  • Return to Kasbah Xaluca, where we will have the rest of the day free to relax after the intense experience in the desert.
  • We will be able to enjoy the hotel's facilities:

Day 5 of the itinerary
Route towards the Todra Gorges and Dades Valley

  • Exit via paved road towards Tinerhir, a small and prosperous town that stands out for the contrast between its pink houses and its extensive palm groves.
  • It is the ideal starting point to explore the famous Todra Gorges, where we can take a short walk following the course of the river.
  • We will continue the route towards Boumalne Dades, a town located in the Valley of the Birds, at an altitude of 1,612 meters, in the heart of the High Atlas Mountains.
  • In the afternoon, we will travel through the Dades Valley until we reach its impressive gorges, where we will stop at a viewpoint to enjoy tea with a view.
  • On the way back, we will make a stop at the curious rock formation known as the “monkey paws”.
  • Accommodation and dinner at the Hotel Xaluca Dades 4*.
Day 6 of the itinerary
Route to Marrakech – Aït Ben Haddou and Tichka Pass

  • This stage will cover approximately 310 km, which will be amply rewarded by the spectacular landscapes we will traverse.
  • We will depart towards Marrakech, making a stop to visit the famous Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and the setting for multiple film productions.
  • We will continue crossing the Tizi n'Tichka, also known as the Tichka mountain pass, the highest road pass in Morocco.
  • We will leave behind the arid, lunar landscape of the south to enter an area of ​​green valleys and ochre tones.
Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon

  • We recommend getting acquainted with the city by visiting the incomparable Djemaa el-Fna Square, which comes alive at this time of day:
  • Reciters, fortune tellers, jugglers, dancers, snake charmers, tooth pullers... fill the square with color and magic.
  • are set up outdoor food stalls, where you can taste typical dishes in a unique atmosphere.

Day 7 of the itinerary
Discovering Marrakech and returning home

  • In the morning, we will take a guided walking tour of the Medina of Marrakech with a local guide.
  • We will begin by admiring the Koutoubia Minaret, twin sister of the Giralda of Seville, and continue with a visit to the Bay Palace.
  • We will venture into the narrow streets of the Souk, where we can see artisans at work:
  • weaving carpets, making slippers… and we will find an infinite variety of quality crafts.
  • We will visit a Berber pharmacy, where they will reveal some of their traditional "secrets".
  • We will return to Djemaa el-Fna Square, which during the day has a completely different atmosphere than at night.
Free afternoon and return

  • Free afternoon to practice the art of bargaining or explore on our own the most hidden corners of the Medina.
  • At the agreed time, transfer to Marrakech airport to take the return flight.
