The Great South of Morocco route 4x4 begins in Fez, whose medina, the envy of the Arab world, is a beautiful labyrinth where you can easily get lost. The road takes us through unique places like the towns of Ifrane, known as Little Switzerland, and its majestic forests of Giant Cedars, until we reach ErfoudDesert Erg Chebbi. There, a spectacle for the senses—endless dunes and the magical aura that envelops these places—will allow us to experience an unforgettable night under the stars. We will leave the desert behind to venture into the High Atlas Mountains, discovering landscapes along the way, stopping to contemplate their beauty, talking with the villagers, and leisurely enjoying their secluded villages and immense gorges. From the mountains to the city, we will arrive in Marrakech, a city full of colors, dotted with artisans and artists, with wonderful squares and aromas that will remain forever in our memory.

Day 1 of the itinerary
Arrival in Fez

  • Departure from the airport of origin to Fez.

Day 2 of the itinerary
Visit to Fez and route to Erfoud

  • In the morning, we will take a guided walking tour of the ancient Medina of Fez, one of the most authentic and best preserved in the Arab world.
  • We will explore its labyrinthine medieval alleyways, where, amidst the bustle of its inhabitants, we will discover craft centers, mosques and palaces.
  • In the early afternoon, we will leave in a 4x4 vehicle with a driver heading south, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains until we reach Ifrane, known as "Little Switzerland" because of its great resemblance to that country.
  • We will cross the famous Giant Cedar Forests, where, if we are lucky, we will be able to feed a colony of wild monkeys that live high in the mountains.
  • We will continue through the Ziz Valley, a palm grove with more than ten million palm trees.
  • Arrival in Erfoud, a city known as the “Gateway to the Desert”.
  • Dinner and accommodation at the Kasbah Xaluca, a unique accommodation in Morocco due to its peculiar architectural and design characteristics.
Day 3 of the itinerary
Total Desert Day – Erg Chebbi and night under the stars

  • Today we will travel along one of the tracks used in the Dakar Rally, visiting villages and nomadic settlements in the desert.
  • We will make a stop at the Marine Fossil Quarries, which are 360 ​​million years old.
  • We will enjoy a picnic in an authentic oasis, a cool corner in the middle of the arid landscape.
  • We will continue to the majestic Grand Erg Chebbi, known as the “desert of very fine sand dunes”.
  • We will swap the 4x4 vehicle for dromedaries, to venture into the heart of the desert and contemplate an unforgettable sunset from the dunes.
  • Arrival by caravan to the Bivouac de Luxe, where we will stay in traditional tents, similar to those of the desert nomads.
  • Dinner and accommodation under a starry sky, a unique and spectacular experience.
Day 4 of the itinerary
Sunrise appointment and free day at Kasbah Xaluca

  • We will get up early to walk to the top of the dunes and contemplate the sunrise, a unique spectacle in the desert.
  • We will enjoy a Bedouin breakfast before continuing the route by vehicle.
  • We will circle the Erg Chebbi until we reach the abandoned village of Merdani.
  • We will continue towards Khamlia, a village of Sudanese origin, where its inhabitants will treat us to traditional dances and mint tea.
  • Later we will visit Rissani*, with its unique market in these latitudes, a supply point for tribes and nomads.

Route towards Tinerhir and Dades Valley

  • From Tinerhir, we will begin exploring the famous Todra Gorges, where we can take a pleasant walk following the course of the river.
  • Later, we will continue towards Boumalne Dades, located in the Valley of the Birds, at an altitude of 1,612 meters in the High Atlas Mountains.
  • In the afternoon, we will explore the Dades Valley to its impressive gorges.
  • Stop at a panoramic viewpoint to enjoy tea with a view.
  • During the descent, we will make a brief stop at the curious rock formations known as the “monkey paws”.

Day 6 of the itinerary
Route to Marrakech – Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou and Tizi n'Tichka

  • This stage will cover approximately 310 km, rewarded by the spectacular nature of its landscapes.
  • We will leave for Marrakech.
  • En route, we will visit the Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and the setting for numerous film productions.
  • We will cross the Tizi n'Tichkapass, the highest mountain pass in the country. Here we will leave behind the lunar landscape and enter areas of predominantly green and ochre colors.
  • Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon.
  • We recommend making your first contact in the incomparable Djemaa el-Fna Square, where at this time it is filled with reciters, fortune tellers, jugglers, tooth pullers, dancers, snake charmers and much more.
  • At nightfall, small, illuminated food stalls are set up outdoors, where you can taste typical Moroccan dishes.
  • Accommodation in a Riad in the Medina or a 5-star Hotel.

Day 7 of the itinerary
Visit to the Medina of Marrakech

  • In the morning, we will take a guided walking tour of the Medina of Marrakech, accompanied by a local guide.
  • We will begin by admiring the Koutoubia Minaret, twin of the Giralda of Seville.
  • We will continue our visit to the Bay Palace, an architectural gem.
  • We will venture into the narrow alleyways of the Souk, where we can observe the artisans in action, such as: weaving carpets, making slippers, and producing other quality handcrafted products.
  • We will visit a Berber pharmacy, where they will teach us their "little secrets" and traditional remedies.
  • We will go out again to Djemaa el-Fna Square, whose daytime atmosphere contrasts markedly with the nighttime one.
  • In the afternoon, free time for:

  • Discover the most authentic corners of the Medina at our own pace
  • Accommodation in a riad in the Medina or in a 5-star hotel.
Day 8 of the itinerary
  • At the agreed time, transfer to Marrakech airport to take the return flight.
