"The Great South of Morocco" is a truly authentic journey to discover the south of the country. This 4x4 route awakens us in Marrakech, a vibrant city brimming with color, artisans, and artists, boasting magnificent squaresand aromas that will leave a lasting impression. From the city, we continue towards the High Atlas Mountains, discovering breathtaking landscapes along the way. We leave the mountains to reach the Erg Chebbi Desert, a spectacle for the senses, with endless dunes and magical atmosphere that will allow us to spend an unforgettable night under the stars. The road takes us through unique places like the town of Rissani, with its ancient market, Lake Aguelmane Sidi Ali and Ifrane, the "Little Switzerland," with its forests of giant cedars, before arriving in Fez. Its Medina, the envy of the Arab world, is a beautiful labyrinth where you can lose yourself while shopping for souvenirs of your time in Morocco.

Day 1 of the itinerary
Arrival in Marrakech

  • Departure from the airport of origin towards Marrakech.
  • Arrival in Marrakech. (Depending on the time of year, there may be a time difference).
  • Airport pickup and transfer to the Riad in the Medina or 5* Hotel.
  • Accommodation.
  • Depending on your arrival time, we recommend a first glimpse of the Medina by visiting the incomparable Djemaa el-Fna Square.
  • At this hour, the square fills with reciters, fortune tellers, jugglers, tooth pullers, dancers, snake charmers and much more...
  • At nightfallare set up small, illuminated food stalls outdoors, where you can taste typical Moroccan dishes.
Day 2 of the itinerary
Marrakech, aromas and crafts

  • In the morning, a walking tour of the Medina of Marrakech with a local guide.
  • We will admire the Koutoubia Minaret, twin of the Giralda of Seville.
  • We will visit the Bay Palace.
  • We will explore the narrow streets of the Souk, where we can see different artisans:
  • Weaving carpets
  • Making slippers
  • And discovering an endless variety of quality
  • A stop at a Berber pharmacy, where they will reveal some of their traditional secrets.
  • Departure to Djemaa el-Fna Square, to enjoy its daytime atmosphere, very different from that of the night.
  • In the afternoon, free time for:
  • Putting the art of bargaining
  • Discover the most authentic corners of the Medina at our own pace
  • Accommodation in a Riad in the Medina or a 5* Hotel.
Day 3 of the itinerary
Heading to the Central High Atlas and Dades Valley

  • Departure in a 4x4 vehicle with driver towards the Central High Atlas.
  • Long stage (approx. 310 km.) but with spectacular scenery.
  • Crossing the Tizi-n'Tichka, the highest mountain pass in the country.
  • From the green and ochre we will move to a true lunar landscape.
  • Visit to the Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou,
  • UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Setting for various film productions
  • I pass through the city of Ouarzazate.
  • Continue through the Valley of the Roses.
  • Arrival at Boumalne Dades, in the Valley of the Birds, at an altitude of 1,612 m in the High Atlas Mountains.
  • Accommodation and dinner at the Hotel Xaluca Dades 4*.
Day 4 of the itinerary
From the Central High Atlas to the Desert

  • In the morning, departure along tracks towards the depths of the Central High Atlas, with spectacular landscapes.
  • Visit Berber villages like Boutaghrarseems to have time.
  • A tour through mountains, canyons, valleys and caves still live nomads.
  • Route through the Dades Valley to its gorges, with a stop at the viewpoint for tea.
  • Visit the curious rock formations known as the “monkey paws”.
  • In the afternoon, continue towards Tinerhir, a small and prosperous town with beautiful palm groves and pink houses.
  • Walk through the impressive Todra Gorges, following the course of the river.
  • Continuation of the journey to Erfoud, known as “the Gateway to the Desert”.
  • Accommodation and dinner at Kasbah Xaluca, a unique establishment in Morocco due to its peculiar characteristics.
Day 5 of the itinerary
Adventure in the Erg Chebbi Desert

  • Full day of Total Desert, touring one of the Dakar Rally tracks.
  • Visit to villages and nomads desert
  • Stop at the Marine Fossil Quarries, which are over 360 million years old.
  • -style lunch Picnic.
  • Arrival at the Great Erg Chebbi, the Desert of Dunes of very fine sand.
  • I swapped my 4x4 vehicle for a camelto enter the heart of the dunes.
  • Contemplation of an unforgettable sunset.
  • Arrival by camel to the Bivouac de Luxe and accommodation in traditional Berber tents, like those used by nomads.
  • Accommodation and dinner under the stars in a magical and unique.
Day 6 of the itinerary
Sunrise in the Dunes and Relaxation at Kasbah Xaluca

  • “Date with the Sunrise”: It is recommended get up early to walk to the top of the dunes and see the sunrise.
  • Bedouin breakfast in the desert.
  • Driving route around Erg Chebbi to the abandoned village of Merdani.
  • Visit to the Sudanese village of Khamlia, where we will enjoy their traditional dances and mint tea.
  • Excursion to Rissani* to discover its traditional market, a supply point for tribes and desert nomads.
  • Stop at a natural viewpoint with spectacular views to say goodbye to the desert.
  • Return to Kasbah Xaluca and free afternoon to relax.
  • Possibility of enjoying the heated pool, jacuzzi, tennis, mini golfhiring optionally a hammam or a massage.
  • For the more adventurous, there is an option to go quad through the dunes (optional activity).
  • The chauffeured vehicle will be available in the afternoon to visit the area or take a walk around Arfoud.
  • Accommodation and dinner at Kasbah Xaluca.
Note: The Rissani market is held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and SundaysIf it doesn't coincide with the itinerary, we will try to visit on another day, or it may not be possible.
Day 7 of the itinerary
From the Desert to Lake Aguelmane Sidi Ali

  • Departure in the morning heading north, crossing the spectacular Ziz Valley, with more than ten million palm trees inside.
  • We left the desert and began the ascent through the Atlas mountain range, enjoying breathtaking landscapes.
  • Crossing the city of Midelt until reaching Aguelmane Sidi Ali, an enclave located at 2,200 meters above sea level, on the shores of the deepest natural lake in the country.
  • Lunch at the Xaluca Spa Aguelmane Sidi Ali Hotel.
  • In the afternoon, time to enjoy nature:
  • Walk around the lake.
  • Ascent to the crater of a nearby volcano.
  • Visit to a nomadic family.
  • We can also relax in the hotel facilities:
  • Heated pool.
  • services spa hammam and Optional.
  • Accommodation and dinner at the Xaluca Spa Aguelmane Sidi Ali, a refuge built in 1935 and recently restored to offer a charming night.
Day 8 of the itinerary
From Aguelmane Sidi Ali to Fez and back home

  • departure Early morning towards Fez.
  • I pass through Ifrane, known as "little Switzerland" for its architecture and surroundings.
  • Crossing the Giant Cedar Forests, where, if we are lucky, we can feed a colony of wild monkeys.
  • Arrival in Fez.
  • In the afternoon, a guided walking tour of the ancient Medina of Fez, one of the most authentic and best preserved in the Arab world:
  • A tour through its labyrinthine medieval alleyways.
  • Discovering artisan centers, mosques and palaces amidst the local bustle.
  • At the agreed time, transfer to Fez airport to catch your return flight.
  • Note: Last day with 4x4 vehicle.
