We invite you to enjoy a unique New Year's Eve experience, departing on a special flight directly to the great Moroccan desert, from December 27th to January 1st. We'll enjoy the magic of the desert, its people, its landscapes, and its culture, to bid farewell and start the year with energy.
Departure on a direct flight from Barcelona to Ouarzazate at 8:15 a.m.*. Arrival at your destination around 10:45 a.m. (local time).
After passport control and baggage claim, chauffeur-driven 4x4 vehicles will await you at the airport. Departure for Ouarzazate, where we will have lunch.
In the afternoon, visit Aït Ben Haddou, a ksar declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and the setting for various film productions such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
Continue to Boumalne Dades, located in the Valley of the Birds at an altitude of 1,612 m.
Dinner and overnight stay at the Xaluca Dades 4* Hotel.
*Flight schedules are subject to change and will be reconfirmed a couple of weeks before departure.
Sunday, December 28th
Today we will explore trails deep within the Central High Atlas mountain range, discovering spectacular landscapes.
We will visit Berber villages such as Boutaghrar and Amskar, where time seems to have stood still. We will see mountains, canyons, and valleys, as well as caves still inhabited by mountain nomads.
We will explore the M'Goun Gorges and enjoy a unique hike. Lunch will be a picnic lunch.
Dinner and overnight stay will be at the 4* Hotel Xaluca Dades.
Following the tradition of solidarity on this trip, we invite you to volunteer by donating a piece of warm clothing.
Each year we make this donation in a different mountain village. This does not involve buying anything specifically, but rather donating warm clothing that we no longer use: coats, fleeces, hats, gloves, etc. One or two items per person, as luggage weight is limited by the airline.
Monday, December 29th
This morning, we'll travel through the Dades Valley to the end of the gorges, where we'll have tea at the viewpoint. On the way back, we'll stop at the Monkey's Paws. Lunch will be served at the hotel.
In the afternoon, we'll depart by road toward Erfoud. Along the way, we'll pass through Tinerhir, a town offering beautiful contrasting views with its pink houses and palm groves. It's the ideal starting point for exploring the famous Todra Gorges. After the visit, we'll continue our journey to Erfoud, known as the "Gateway to the Desert."
Dinner and overnight stay will be provided at the Kasbah Xaluca, considered unique in Morocco for its distinctive features.
Tuesday, December 30th
Today we will experience a day of complete desert living. We will travel along one of the tracks used in the Dakar Rally, visiting villages and desert nomads. We will stop at the quarries of marine fossils, dating back 360 million years.
Lunch will be a picnic lunch at an oasis, from where we will continue to the Grand Erg Chebbi, known as the "Desert of the Finest Sand Dunes." There, we will swap 4x4 vehicles for camels to enter the heart of the dunes and contemplate an unforgettable sunset.
We will arrive with the camels at La Belle Étoile Bivouac, where we will stay in haimas—tents made of camel hair—like those used by desert nomads. We will enjoy a special Berber dinner with local folklore and the unique experience of spending a night "under the stars."
Wednesday, December 31st
Today we have a "Date with the Dawn." It's advisable to rise early to watch the sunrise from the dunes. Next, we'll set off in a 4x4 to circle the Great Erg Chebbi until we reach the abandoned village of Merdani. We'll continue to Khamlia, a village of Malian origin, where we'll be treated to traditional mint tea and folk dances from their country. Lunch will be at the most authentic Berber pizzeria, Des Dunes, in Erfoud.
Afterward, we'll arrive at Kasbah Xaluca to enjoy a few hours of relaxation and prepare to bid farewell to the new year. There, we'll have access to the heated pool and jacuzzi. Optional services include a hammam (Turkish bath) and massages. For the more adventurous, quad biking through the dunes surrounding the hotel is an optional excursion. In the evening, we'll enjoy dinner and a New Year's Eve party.
During the afternoon, there will be shuttle cars for those who wish to visit Erfoud, visit a craft shop, or take a stroll through the village. The 12th annual "San Silvestre" (New Year's Eve) event will also be held, an activity to close out the year with family sports fun.
Thursday, January 1st
This morning we will visit the Rissani Market, unique in these latitudes and a supply point for the desert tribes and nomads. Its donkey parking lot is particularly interesting.
We will then climb to a natural viewpoint to bid farewell to the desert with a beautiful panoramic view. Lunch will be served at the Kasbah Xaluca.
Afterwards, we will transfer to Errachidia Airport. Along the way, we will pass through the Ziz Valley, home to more than 10 million palm trees.
Our flight departs at 4:50 pm and returns to Barcelona, with an expected arrival time of around 7:10 pm.
