Over 20 years ago, in the garden of the Dar Batha Museum in Fez, with its fountains, citrus trees, and palm trees, our love affair with Morocco began. Surrounded by shimmering mosaics, a colonnade of columns, and carved cedar wood, we met at a concert of the World Sacred Music Festival and were captivated. Two things made us want to stay in Morocco: the country's diversity, with its ancient cities steeped in history, its endless desert sands, remote national parks, majestic mountain ranges, verdant vineyards, delicious cuisine, and a beautiful coastline. And, most importantly, the people: whether city dwellers, artisans in the medinas, rural women, or desert nomads, they are all kind, hospitable, and immensely proud of their country.
